West Nile Virus

West Nile virus(WNV) is a disease that spread from infections that first develop in the united states in 1999. West Nile virus is widespread in areas like Africa, West Asia and the Middle East. West Nile virus is a serious illness mainly spread by mosquitoes. It transmitted to people through the bite of an infected mosquito. Mosquitoes transfer the virus after become infected by feeding on the blood of birds carrying the virus. West Nile Virus is not spread through person to person or from your pet. But in few cases it spread through blood and organ transplants mother to unborn child, breastfeeding. This happens most often in the months of spring, summer and early fall. Older people are most risk at West Nile Virus because they have no specific medicines or treatments.

Symptoms:- Most peoples are infected with West Nile Virus but they have no signs or symptoms.

Common symptoms of West Nile Virus enclosed :--

  • Headache
  • Fever
  • Tiredness
  • Pain in all Body
  • Nausea
  • Swollen lymph glands

Serious infection symptoms:- Serious infection may include infection of the brain called encephalitis. If the West Nile Virus enters the brain, it can be deadly. Infection that surrounds the brain and spinal cord, called meningitis. Some symptoms of serious infections include:

  • High fever
  • Severe headache
  • Stupor or coma
  • Sudden weakness in arms, legs or breathing muscles
  • Pain
  • Thick neck

Treatment :- No especial treatment exists for West Nile virus. Most people recover from West Nile virus without any type of treatment. If you have a severe infection then take medication.

The best way to save from WNV is to prevent mosquito bites:
Use screens on windows to keep mosquitoes out and Get clear of mosquito breeding sites by emptying standing water from flower pots, buckets.
